37 years as a painter (1987- to date)

 

     Suzlee Ibrahim was born in Kuala Terengganu (1967), has shown a remarkable achievement in his 36 years career as a painter. He has had 44 solo exhibitions and exhibited in more than 40 countries all over the world. Among the countries are the United Kingdom, USA, Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Bosnia Herzegovina, Canada, China, Colombia, Cuba, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Hungary, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Korea, Lithuania, Macedonia, Netherland, Poland, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Romania, Russia, Sarajevo, Singapore, Slovenia, Spain, Taiwan, Tunisia, Turkey, UAE, Nepal and Bangladesh.

31 years as an academician (1993- to date) 

​

      In art education, Suzlee started as a part time lecturer at the School of Art & Design, Institut Teknologi MARA in 1993 (later known as the Faculty of Art and Design, Universiti Teknologi MARA Shah Alam). Today, he is the Dean of the Faculty of Fine Art ASWARA and holds a Master's degree in Fine Art and Technology from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Shah Alam. Experienced as a lecturer for over 30 years. Began his career as a part-time lecturer at the School of Art and Design at Institut Teknologi MARA (ITM) in 1993 (now known as Universiti Teknologi MARA/ UiTM). He started working as a lecturer at the Faculty of Fine Art ASWARA since 2009 until today.

He is an expert in the field of Fine Arts, a facilitator in workshops, a judge of visual art competitions and also a curator of exhibitions. Among the corporates and organizations that have used his services are the Resorts World Genting, SME Bank, MBSA, MPPJ, Utusan Melayu, Ministry of Agriculture & Agro-Based Industry Malaysia, Universiti Malaya, Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI), University of Sarjah (UAE), Universiti Malaysia Sarawak, Faculty of Education Universiti Teknologi MARA Puncak Alam, FSSR Universiti Teknologi MARA Melaka, FSSR Universiti Teknologi MARA Sarawak, New Era University College, Cultural Center UKM, IPG Lembah Pantai International Language Campus, Selangor Education Technology Division, MARA Training Institute Jawi Pulau Pinang, Maktab Rendah Sains MARA (MRSM), Professional Development Center INTAN Bukit Kiara Kuala Lumpur and Terengganu State Museum. Suzlee Ibrahim seriously produces works of art in the form of paintings for the past 37 years and has held a total of 46 solo exhibitions. He has exhibited his work in more than 40 countries including the United Kingdom, USA, Argentina, Australia, Austria, Bangladesh, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, China, Colombia, Cuba, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Korea, Lithuania, Malaysia, Netherland, Poland, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Romania, Russia, Sarajevo Bosnia and Herzegovina, Singapore, Slovenia, Spain, Taipei, Thailand, Tunisia, Turkey, UAE and Nepal.

      Due to Suzlee's dedication in bringing the country's good name in art abroad, he was awarded the Kesatria Mangku Negara (K.M.N) from the Duli Yang Maha Mulia Seri Paduka Baginda Yang di-Pertuan Agong and Bentara Setia Mahkota Kelantan Yang Amat Terbilang (B.S.K.) from the Duli Yang Maha Mulia Sultan Muhammad V. His achievements at the international level have become a reference and inspiration for young painters and students majoring in visual arts. He is one of the best examples of academics and successful painters in the Malaysian Art industry. Due to his active involvement in the art arena, he received the Outstanding Service Award 2003 from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), In Recognition of Outstanding Creative Excellence - Emaar International Art Symposium Dubai/ UAE in 2005, Japan-Malaysia Art Friendship Ambassador - Ministry Malaysian Culture, Arts and Heritage & World Arts and Culture Exchange Malaysia/Japan in 2007, Anugerah Citra Kencana from the National University of Malaysia (UKM) in 2011, Excellent Masters Award from the Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) in 2013, Anugerah Pengilmuan Seni from ASWARA in 2014, Anugerah Pakar by the Ministry of Human Resources Malaysia in 2016, 2nd Prize Monastir International Festival of Visual Arts Tunisia in 2019, Gold Medal of Zervas Art The 5th Paris Art Symposium Paris France in 2020 and Award Excellent Service from ASWARA in 2010, 2017 and also in 2020.

His works are collected by corporate organizations and private collectors in Malaysia and abroad. On 29 September 2015, he received recognition from the Malaysia Book of Records as a painter who has produced the longest painting (The Poem, Acrylic & oil on Canvas, 5 x 60 feet, 2010-2015).
